The trail takes you through the area of B & B Fire of 2003 into the Eight Lakes Basin area. From the eastern terminus to Little Bowerman Lake (2.3 mi.), it's a steady uphill climb through snags and deadfall. There are almost no living trees left. For this portion of the trail, you are hiking through very dry land and climbing over and around scores of fallen trees. From Little Bowerman Lake to the western trail terminus just past Jorn Lake, the scenery changes to much more living fir trees and several lakes with beautiful views of Mt. Jefferson to the north.

The western end of this trail goes past several nice lakes to camp at, in particular Jorn Lake. Unfortunately, a majority of the trail is bone dry and covered in blowdown. This is the result of the B&B Complex fire raging through here. The trail has recovered little over the years.

Remember to fill your water before crossing the section between Minto Pass Trail and Little Bowerman Lake!
