dogs on leash
flat good jogging trail
great trail for biking except in some areas you have to watch out for cars.
A great place to run or bike in OKC. Roughly 9.5 miles all the way around the lake.
Great loop for cycling.
very nice place to enjoy a nice ride..wen done you can have a nice lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants over looking the lake..and on the north side of Lake at the bottom of dam...there's a walking and jogging trails and a 4 mile mountain biking trail... oh yeah at the restaurants they have bike racks so you can lock your bikes up as well..
Nice trail unless it's really windy
I travel to OKC for work pretty often and have never gotten the chance to check out the trail. Had an opportunity to stay for the weekend and Lake Hefner was top on my agenda. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a great trail, with a couple of surrounding parks to stop and take a break if you are doing the whole loop. Not a lot of cover/shade but luckily it was a great day. Then there was the Redman Triathlon going on, got a chance to cheer on some really great people.
Fun for family. The Stars and Stripes park is nice.
The trail is unmarked which can make it a little hard to navigate the first time around. It is a great trail to run in the winter although the one bubbler I was able to spot from the trail was not in working order.
Usually pretty busy, but a safe place to ride a road bike, walk, or run. This is my favourite area for running in Oklahoma City, and great for road biking, too. It's not very forested though, so you definitely need sunscreen and water in the summer!
This trail is best for the road bike. There's little to no cover, so bring extra water and sunscreen in the warm months, especially if you're walking/running. It's usually pretty crowded, but there's always decent parking. There's a few good restaurants with nice outdoor patios if you wanted to kick back after a ride or run.
This is my favorite spot to ride or run after work. This is a 9 mile loop around Lake Hefner with very little exposure to vehicle traffic; however, be prepared to share the trail with walkers, runners, kids and roller bladders. There are also some nice restaurants on the East side of the lake to stop at for a lakeside break.
Decent size city lake with a community golf course attached. It is a pleasant little get-a-way on the Northwest side of OKC that is tattered with various paved and off-road trails. The lakeside amenities found around it vary with choices like different outdoor sports, restruants, bars and shopping venues. This area is always buzzing with people and an obvious social hot spot too.
Great paved trail for family and other riders. Path goes around the lake and passes by some restaurants, marinas, golf course, and some residential area. Good for an enjoyable cruise but can be busy. Not really a getaway place but still nice for people who want to cruise or do road type riding
