Towpath Trail is a 17.9 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Peninsula, Ohio that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from March until November.
It was too early for all that but it was a nice ride. The history of these towpaths is fasinating.
A wonderful early morning ride. I love the bridges, train depot and other man made atractions mixed in with nature and history.
Great! Such a beautiful and fresh area:)
Very flat walk along the Towpath throughout but some nice scenery along the way. I tend to frequent the trails around the towpath more often as the path itself is usually very congested with bike traffic.
Always a treat, whether walking or biking. Lots of wildlife and the national park stores that serve snacks at Boston and Peninsula make them great places to take a break. Have not done Bike and Board, but the trains seem to be on time and $3 is a bargain for a one way train trip back.
Great trail ride or walk for all ages along the Historic Erie Canal tow path.
Pros: Well marked and maintained. Historic features along the entire path with muliple hiking trail off shoots.
Cons: Very crowded most days.
I LOVE this trail! It's been one of my absolute favorites for years! The paths are extremely clear, nicely kept, and the area is very nice to walk through. Definitely great for anyone who wants to enjoy a nice, casual hike.
I usually pick it up at the train depot in Brecksville and make the round trip to Penisula and back. Don't have a speedometer on my bike, so not sure of the actual mileage roundtrip.
Easy ride for those just getting back into shape.
A really good easy trail. Relatively flat with areas of hard pack and some pavement along with wooden trail bridges. Nice scenery through the woods. If you start from the canal side you can take a break after the 13 mile ride in peninsula with a lunch at the winking lizard. There is also century cycle right next door for any bike needs. Hop back on the trail for a return 12 mile bike ride back to canal. A fun easy ride the whole family can do. Perfect length at about 24 miles round trip give or take a couple miles. Might be a little boring for mountain bikers looking for some up and downs or single track but overall it's got what you need to get out on your bike to enjoy a full day
