Oak Ridge Trail is a 2.1 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Guysville, Ohio that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
This is a little-known, rarely used nature preserve not far off of US Route 50 in Athens County. It is very well maintained, with the initial sections of the loop leaving the parking lot even being mowed. Every creek crossing is bridged and none of the up or downhill sections are overly steep or strenuous. At the top of the loop a spur trail, known as the High Meadow Trail, branches off for a fairly level 1/2 mile (one way) out and back addition to your walk. It may have been a meadow at one time, but now it's being given back to forest, and the stroll is through young growth.
A great preserve for quiet solitude. Don't go expecting a blow-your-mind hike but for what it is, this trail is very nice, and very well maintained. It's close to our house so we try to walk it a couple of times a month. Be sure to check out the beaver pond!
