Moderate trail with various overlooks of the Oxbow wetlands and Ohio River. Best in the spring before sunset.
Great local trail that is family-friendly. There are lots of pawpaws growing here. The scenery is best if hiked in the fall and winter but you can still view the Ohio and Great Miami Rivers.
Relative to what's available in the Cincinnati area, when it comes to hiking, it's a scenic trail. Starts out with a moderate uphill then proceeds along a ridge with views of the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers at the end. The trail is a gravel and dirt mixture and is about six feet wide, so no need to get covered in spiderwebs or poison ivy :) Also, this trail isn't as inundated with invasive flora, such as honeysuckle, as most of the other trails in the area. For me, it makes it more pleasurable. Plenty of old growth.
Lastly, keep your eyes open for Bald Eagles! I've only seen them in the wild once, and it was at Shawnee Lookout.
Fun short hike kid friendly on the way out from the river view look carefully for the off beat trail on the right and follow it for the cache
