Highbridge is a 3 mile out and back trail located near Akron, OH. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking.
Good for a hike, not really exciting views
Pretty nice and relaxing
I came to this trail to get a high view from the bridge but discovered that I would need to trespass to get hat view. The trail is mostly beaten down gravel along a power line. The river is just within ear shot that you hear the flow of water but can't really see it. The smells I experienced were enough to keep me away again. To get just a little but further down the trail where you actually walk on a beaten dirt path with lush green trees you need to descend down quite a few stairs.
Parking off Front st. past the Gorge parking lot, you can start the Highbridge trail here. Good view of dam.
more of a connector trail. Boring
It's ok. Better to continue to the stairs and head to the river. Trail runs along river.
Not a hiking trail. This is a walk over a really boring gravel road. Least favorite of the ones I've tried in Akron.
The bulk of this trail is pretty bland, although you do get to walk along the river. Lots of "city" all around you. When you get to the end, the Cascade Valley area is nice and you can hang out right on the river edge. Less traffic than the far more scenic Gorge Trail nearby.
A trail for everyone. Almost completely flat with one very small boardwalk section with about three steps up and three steps down, you pass under the Highbridge exactly one mile down the trail and at that point you can choose to stay on the Highbridge Trail or decent 113 stairs into Cascade Valley Metro Park. I like to run out to the stairs and do three trips up and down them before running back.
As other reviewers have mentioned the trail is very scenic running along the Cuyahoga River, dam and river gorge, it is also a lot less crowded than the more popular Gorge trail on the opposite side of the river.
This trail follows a ridge along a lake, dam, waterfall and river so it is very scenic. It is very flat for the most part except where you must climb three sets of steps and is an out and back trail. I hike this trail at least once a month if not more often
The Highbridge trail runs alongside the river from Cuyahoga Falls Ave to the Highbridge of Main St. Once at the Highbridge you are able to enter the Cascade Valley park. The trail itself is flat and provide a nice leisurely stroll for a family. Roughly 0.5 miles down the trail you are able to descend down to the river, which is moderately challenging path and provides a very scenic landscape of both natural and historic human made items, (ie old bridge columns of stone etc) overall it was a good time with my 2 year old son.
