Awesome trail, although very populated, even for a Tuesday morning. Hike is very short to some absolutely stunning views. Not for those who enjoy the journey more than the destination, but certainly a must-see.
Absolutely stunning views!
This hike was absolutely beautiful and well worth it! It is a little steep so just be cautious and careful when wet!
A section of the Tanawha Trail just east of Grandfather Mountain and the Linn Cove Viaduct. It is definitely one of my favorite spots on the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. I have hiked it in every season, and I try to go back almost every time I am in the area. It's only a few tenths of a mile to the boardwalk and the first majestic views, and a half mile to the highest point on the ridge. Despite the short distance though, it is not easy...rocky and often muddy. But this trail should be on everyone's list if possible!
Amazing trail beautiful views and good for kids also, lots of rocks to play on, the trail it self looks cool
Loved this Hike!! But, was like 100% Foggy..so I didn't get to see the views, but it was still an amazing hike!! So Beautiful..will go back in a few weeks to see after the leaves change :) Great Hike!
This trail is SO much fun and the views are amazing!
Can you camp on this trail?
If you want to get spectacular views, this is a great hike. It took us about 45 mins round trip, but there are massive rocks at the top that are perfect for a picnic or rest. It's pretty steep at some places, but I passed many a family doing this hike together.
Good short hike with spectacular views. Have done multiple times and plan to keep going back. Would recommend to anyone
Amazing view!!!!!! A must stop.
The views are spectacular on a clear day. Trails are narrow but such a cool experience with the rock steps, brush lined paths, and quick cut out to a rock for a panoramic view!
Great for parents and kids alike. Beautiful views and worth the visit if you are in the area, shouldn't take more than an hour total.
Great terrain and a number of overlooks offering great views of the surrounding landscape. This is not a paved, multi-use pathway. It's a trail of moderate difficulty, which features a steep, rocky grade in some places. Proper footwear is recommended. Hiking it does require some effort, but it's worth it.
My family's favorite hike - top of the world vista rewards at 0.3 mile, the "summit" at 0.5 miles. Miniaturized, weather sculpted trees - just beautiful! We started at the Rough Ride trailhead, but parked one car at the Linn Cove Viaduct visitor center and through- hiked for a total of 2.6 miles. Technical trail with awesome rock faces, boulders and bridges.
This trail has a great ratio of views per step. It's not long, and it seems like an unbelievable vista appears around every corner. That said, it is steep, so you'll have to work for it. Worth it, though.
This is not a moderate hiking trail. It's all rocks and mud and straight uphill. But once you reach the top the views are spectacular. Recommend hiking poles.
