Do not try to follow the loop on this trail map! The last part of the loop that runs from Loblolly Trail back to the Reedy Creek Multi-use Traill does not exist. There is no trail along the western edge of Reedy Creek Lake. Even though the map said that I was right on the trail, there was no trail in sight and I had to hike through knee-high vegetation along the edge of the lake in order to get back to the bridge on the Multi-use trail. If you do want to attempt this route, stay on Loblolly Trail until you get back to the access road or parking lot

We started this hike at the intersection of Company Mill trail. We wanted to see the dam. As soon as we started, the road was very busy with bikers, but it was wide enough for all. This road is still shaded, and is curvy. It leads down to the dam, and out the park to the asphalt road and back to the parking lot. I think if you are a biker, this is an amazing trail. For hikers, the Company Mill trail was much more authentic.

I customized this loop by starting at the Loblobby trail and then walking on the Reedy Creek Multi-use track and joining back the Loblobby trail to finish. This is a good trail with a mix of a medium and easy treks. The trail was mostly quiet being a weekday. I got a good workout from this 4.5 mile custom loop trail.

Reedy Creek Multi-use trail (MUT) is the main trail from Old Reedy Creek Road to all the other MUTs in William B. Umstead State Park. It's approx 4.5 miles one way and is mostly flat (especially at the start) crushed gravel road with a few challenging uphills and nice fast downhills. It's used by hikers, bikers and horseback riders and gives you a great workout getting more challenging the further you go - it finishes at Reedy Creek road at the south end where it connects to the South Turkey Creek Trail. Great for a Saturday morning workout and can be combined with numerous other trails.

Reedy Creek Lake Trail is a nice downhill from the Umstead State Park Reedy Creek Entrance (take the right turn from just before the main parking lots to the trailhead) that connects you to the rest of the multi-use trails (MUTs). It's a little over half a mile down to Reedy Creek Lake. The trail can connect you back to the Loblolly trail if you take the right on the South Turkey Creek trail. Not much else very interesting on this trail.
