Panthetown-Tuckasegee Trail is a 5.7 mile out and back trail located near Glenville, NC that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, horses, and mountain biking and is accessible from March until November. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.
Riverside hiking trail, numerous waterfalls. All of the trails are unmarked in Panthetown Valley and great care should be used in navigating in this area. A map can be obtained at the local hiking store in Cashiers, NC. The trail starts at the Cold Mtn Parking area and quickly descends down hill along switchbacks on a wide trail. Take a quick side trip to the scenic SchoolHouse Falls. Then resume the hike along BoardCamp Ridge. As you ascend you will come to an obvious fork. Go left for another quick side trip to Lower Warden Falls. Great camping spot. Retrace back to the fork and bear right. After about .30 miles take the side trail to the left and view a nice unnamed waterfall. Follow the river a short distance for viewing a rock overhang next to the waters edge. Retrace your hike back to the Cold Mountain parking area.
Parking area at end of Cold Mtn Road. Area around is marked private property so stay on the many unblazed trails. The Greenland Creek trail begins at the tower line and after a hike thru some unremarkable hardwoods there are some muddy and fun rhododendron covered trails to venture down to two waterfalls. One has about a six foot sliding rock drop and continues thru a rock sluice to a second that is equally as pretty. After that the creek runs flat within eyeshot.
Well worth an hour hike in and back.
Amazing Trail! A must DO!!!!
