Lake Lure Run Motorcycle Ride is a 43 mile point-to-point trail located near Asheville, North Carolina. The trail is primarily used for scenic driving.
I took US 74 from I-40 to Lake Lure on a beautiful, sunny, warm and uncrowded February day. It is a very pretty drive. You hit a series of switchbacks as you head up into the hills. I added a quick detour in Gerton to hike the Bearwallow Mountain Trail. It is definitely worth it if you have the time. Once back on the main road, you soon head into Hickory Nut Gorge and descend to Chimney Rock Village. I happily saved most of my time for hiking the trails at Chimney Rock State Park and exploring Lake Lure.
No matter which way you go there are plenty of curves and hills. Beautiful!
