Waterfall Safety Warning Provided by the Dupont Forest website: WARNING: Although beautiful to see, waterfalls can be very dangerous. Every year people fall TO THEIR DEATH after a slip on wet rocks above and around waterfalls in the area. Never climb or slide on waterfalls, or swim, wade or play in the water above a waterfall. Children must be constantly supervised when visiting waterfalls. Do not allow pets to roam freely. It is easy to underestimate the slickness of rocks and the strong flow of water. Stay on the established trails and enjoy the view from the overlooks.

Wide gravel dirt roads make this trail around Lake Julia beautiful and easy for families or bikers. The lake is not populated and very pristine. You can do a portion of this and not the whole 19 miles. The hike from the visitors center to the lake and back is about five miles total. The hike has some small hills near the lake. Most parts are in the shade but you'll also see some meadows and sun.
