Excellent 3 hour hike. Moderate to start then a nice long down on the second half.
Ingles field gap is actually just over a mile long. Maybe this website is trying to create a loop comprising of Ingles Field Gap. The trail climb is bearable. Starts off steep, but then gets better. Going downhill is great. Pays off.
One of my favorite trails at Bend Creek, best way to get to this trail is to park in the parkiing lot right after the Hard-times parking lot (just before the camp grounds). Head straight up the fire road, in front of you as you are heading into the parking lot (there will be another fire road on your left...do not take this road). Keep left as you climb and this should take you all the way to the bottom of Ingles Field, from there climb up the single track trail. Locals call this 3 points, because at the top of the trail you have three options, go down Ingles Gap, go down Ingles field or you can climb up to 5 points. I suggest you go up to 5 points....the down hill is better from 5 points...or you can continue your climb to Greenslick...which is the best down hill run at Bend Creek.
Really nice trail close to Asheville. Awesome downhill after some good elevation change and climbing. It's not really marked well, and there are trails that lead off the main trail so be careful and know where you started.
