Very good hike. I went there ti see the view from John Rock, therefore I climbed up to the top on John Rock 365. Excellent view, but also the other part of the forest in this loop are very nice.
Great moderate hike. We did not do the Johns Rock loop and it took about 2 hours. Easy to find trail head, well blazed and pretty well groomed overall
great hike. took cat gap loop to John rock to get a great view.
This is a fantastic loop. The hike was more difficult than I anticipated but doable. Drink water and take breaks when needed. I took the loop to john rock then did the rest of the loop. The weather was perfect and I loved seeing all the fall foliage. An absolutely gorgeous hike
This was a great hike! It was more of an incline than we thought it would be..its marked as moderate on this app,but it's actually marked as very difficult on the trail. A lot of roots and rocks ,but the trail is an interesting trail. Taking the bypass to John Rock is highly recommended if your up for a little more distance and incline, but the views are pretty amazing. It took us about 3 hrs-6 miles ,but we also hung out at Johns Rock for a little while. There were many people who were camping here and there,so if your up for pitching a tent, there are many flat areas. All around,we really enjoyed this hike ! Also, the store at the education center where you park has a map of the trail. I would stop in there and grab one before you go. It's open till 4:30pm.
Great trail if you include the John Rock loop. Moderate to easy 3 hours for loop if you relax and hang out on John Rock. Better view than Looking Glass Rock.
Sometimes not marked clearly. Nice water along the way.
Great hike and John Rock is worth the extra time! Muddy in places. Beautiful views from the rock.
Great hike. Not easy
Enjoyed a hiking trip here on Monday with my sister. This trail was breath-taking. Trails in NC are slightly different than the ones in SC and I find that refreshing!
Loved this. Definitely do the John Rock loop too, very worth the additional time.
Be sure to go up the John Muir trail to the rock face, which has the best (or, really, only) view on the hike.
Enjoyed this hike very much! Various parts of the hike make it exciting
Beautiful trail! We parked at the Pisgah Education Center/fish hatchery and started the loop closer to the Education Center building. Gorgeous ferns and rhododendrons along the route and some wild blueberries and blackberries. We added on the John Rock spur/Cat Gap Bypass which I'd highly recommend. The view of Looking Glass from John Rock is incredible!
