Wolf Creek Falls Preserve Trail is a 1.6 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Knox, NY that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
dogs on leash
This trail is part of the Mohawl Hudson Land Conservancy. It's a 138 acre parcel nestled out in the town of Knox (a short drive from Altamont). The portion of the trails to the West of RT253 contains beautiful field stone walls that remain some of my favorite in the area. These are probably best for walking as the trail is never too far from the lot and is perhaps a bit short for enjoying much of a run.
We had a great time on this trail today. Our son had great fun finding salamanders and frogs. We will definitely be back.
I hung out where there's supposed to be a waterfall- no water but it was still a pretty scene. Got to investigate the pool at the bottom which had some shrimp like creatures. Otherwise the hike wasn't very remarkable. Will probably go back when there's more water running at the falls.
Not a bad hike. Trails are marked but it got confusing at times even with the map. Lots of bugs/mosquitoes. Nice rock wall, lots of different mushrooms, frogs, and salamanders.
pretty, buggy, waterfall dry
It was a nice trail. Seems like every other trail marker was a different color but we just did what made sense and didn't have any trouble. If you follow the red trail back to the road go right back to the parking lot
This is a fun trail but VERY buggy!
I took my 83 year old mother and grandson here. The parking lot is on one side of the road but the creek and the falls are on the other side. Follow the trail. The falls are great. Only probl was at one point we expected a bridge but no bridge to cross back over the creek.
The trails are well marked and the map helps getting you along the trails. Beautiful views of the Wolf Creek and all of the falls along the trails.
Great trail ...
Well cared for, well marked trails.
Directions given are WRONG. Parking is between private residences at 774 and 816 Bozenkill Road. Maps are available at the trailhead and online if you do a search. Quiet, easy hike with many connected trails. Best in early spring when the creek is running.
The trail head and parking area was very hard to find. The hike itself was nice.
Nice set of trails once we figured out the color codes.
the directions are a little off. at the very end, take a left and the parking area will be on the left. easy to miss...
definitely get a trail map. trails are easy and there are a lot of them.
Great place to go! Definitely recommend getting a trail map before you head out. Great water views throughout.
could not find it. no signs. very disappointing
sorry...did not mean to hit submit previously.
pick up a free map at the parking area. you will want it.
I hiked here once before a few years back and the stream was dry, though the walk was still enjoyable. Today was different. the numerous falls were flowing nicely. I find myself wondering how this little gem has stayed under the radar after seeing how nice the falls are. The hills are at an easy grade and the walk is relatively short. My only caution is that the trails can be confusing. Be sure to pick up a free map a
a little confusing but nice
