quiet, air quality... superb! great hiking!
nice dog walk
Easy trail to walk and nice to wander off the beaten path to explore waterfalls and nice views of the Hudson.
The trails in Tallman Mountain State Park are a great afternoon getaway for the amateur hiker or casual outdoor enthusiast. Multiple trails are suitable for a quick stroll through the woods with the family and pets or an hour spent bicycling paved paths between the trees. A dirt trail which starts at the main parking lot presents simple obstacles with easy elevation changes of +/- 20 feet and the occasional rock step. After a few hundred yards, you can switch off to the "Long Trail" which is a paved road that later turns into packed earth. Marked footpaths that are easy to navigate branch off and take you past shaded ponds with frogs and ducks aplenty. Finish off the afternoon with a lunch at one of several scenic picnic grounds complete with standing grills and wooden tables or a game of mini-golf at the front entrance.
Tallman has one great spot that looks over the Hudson towards the Tappan Zee Bridge. Truly love that view. That being said, it's a decent place to explore, but it's not something I'd write home about. Winter time is very nice.
