A hike to the Stillwater Fire Tower is a must do. The views are stunning. Whiteface and Blue Mountain in the Adirondacks in one direction. Maple Ridge wind farm and Snow Ridge Ski Area in the Tug Hill Plateau in another direction. Great view of the reservoir once the fog burned off.

Solo kayaked to Fox Island (#27) for two nights. What a great spot. Not for novice paddlers. But the launch area has boat rentals, a b&b and a restaurant. Winds on the water can be fierce and kick up some chop. Otherwise, I'll be coming back to this spot.

Beautiful spot. Great for Kayak or canoe BUT ONLY WHEN THERTE IS NO WIND. Otherwise rent a small boat and prepare to see real beauty. Within 40 minutes you can be deep in the woods and not see a soul. I love the views from the lake. 6 miles wide and 11 miles long. This is the second largest reservoir in NY State but has not yet been overrun with people, probably because the access is down a well maintained dirt road.
