Views of the Hudson River and valley are nice. Moderate hike, not hard as it is described here.
Loved the view! If you wanted it to be a longer route to the blue trail it is possible. Took my nephews that were 6 and 4 yrs old and they were able to do the blue trail, but would still advise watching them it does get rocky at one point of the trail.
Very nice hike, wish it was longer. Breathtaking view.
Hard to find the trail head... Many different trails to follow... Blue trail leads to lookout. Harder trail, rocky and challenging at times. Good workout on a muggy day. Always worth the view.
nice daily walk not too steep, great for a family hike
It was a good hike up there with my family
We started this trail at the trailhead on Spier Falls Rd for the Western Ridge Trail. We followed it to the turn off for Cottage Park Trail down to Eastern Ridge Trail and made a loop that was 5.7 miles and took about 3 hours. There were 2 overlooks that were absolutely beautiful with fall foliage looking over the Hudson and the mountain peaks beyond. The climb was up and down and covered lots of terrain. It was a very fun hike and I will definitely go back to explore the other numerous trails that are in this park.
I believe this is the Western Ridge trail, yellow blazed. Nice views and plenty of options and return routes.
Trail heads in and outside the park.
Look at Moreau Lake State Parks website for trail maps
not a review but a correction. i have lived near and ridden this mt. for many yrs and the correct spelling is Spier Mt. It is on Spier Falls Rd. It is located in the Moreau Lake State Park. It sits on Palmer Mt which is just slightly north of Grant Mt. along the same ridge.
