  • Herdpath up Santanoni Range
Here you will depart from the Bradley Pond Trail and start up on the herdpath up the Santanonis. Use the guide track to find where the herdpath begins on the western side of Bradley Pond. Look for the herdpath leaving from a beaver dam several hundred yards from the Bradley Pond lean-to.

  • Times Square
This 4-way intersection is called "Times Square" heading north will take you to Panther, South to Santanoni and straight ahead to Couchsachraga. It doesn't matter which one you do first but perhaps you should try for Couchsachraga to get the furthest one out of the way first if you need to make a return trip due to running out of daylight.

  • Panther Peak Summit
At 4,442 feet you are at the summit of Panther which has good western views although being a slightly wooded summit.
    44.09847, -74.13235
  • Santanoni Summit
At 4,606 feet you are at the summit of Santanoni Peak which has a great overlook for views although again, it is wooded.

  • Summit of Couchsachraga
At 3,793 feet somebody really screwed up with the survey long ago when the 46 4,000 foot peaks were determined because this one is over 200 feet below that level! Yet, Couchsachraga is still considered to be on of the 46 peaks although for some reason MacNaughton at 3,983 feet is not on the list! In fact, there are 15 non-46er peaks that are taller than "couchie". Although the summmit is wooded there are some views back towards the range.

Hike up panther brook is amazing

Turn at time square is somewhat confusing. The unmaintained trail could use a couple cairns to ensure people don't get lost.

11 hr, 13 min from sign in to sign out. spent 15ish min on couch and santanoni, 30-45 on panther. Plan on couch taking 3 hours round trip from time square. it was alot of flat, just long. from the parking lot- going up the express route and back down around the pond route worked out well.

This is a difficult and long hike. It should be noted that the trails are unmaintained.

A great hike! But not the best unless you are thinking about being a 46er.

Very long hike, 16 miles, took us 12hrs. pretty easy to follow, couple great views. if your not going for the 46er's I'd say skip Couchsachraga. Not really worth the extra time and elevation.
