Roemers High Point Trail [PRIVATE PROPERTY] is a 1.8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Voorheesville, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
PLEASE NOTE: this trail is now on private property. Mountain views, easy hike, close to home. You will be following the Long Path (section 33) which is marked with aqua paint blazes. When you see two blazes on a tree, it means the trail is making a turn. The first part of climb will take you up the small ski slope behind Thacher Park. At the top of this slope, there is a warming hut. The trail continues into the woods crossing several other unmarked trails. Be sure to look out for the aqua blazes. At the top of this climb, known as Roemer's High Point, is a nice picnic spot. There is a view to the south of the Blackhead range in the Catskills. To the west you can spot Cole Hill and Partridge Run.
This is no longer a trail. It has become private property. I talked to someone from the Helderberg club I saw at the base of the trail. She said that they have let the 99 year lease go. The trail is no longer accessible to the public.
Hike ends before you start the loop due to posted private property/no trespassing signs.
I went farther then maybe i should have but was a fun trail
Trail was closed 2 miles in, opposite view of Thacher Park. Pretty from what could see.
Went geocaching here. Didn't travel the whole distance but what we hiked was very nice!
