Rock City State Forest is a loop trail located near Salamanca, NY that offers scenic views. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, camping, and snowshoeing.
Strenuous, steep and slippery in snow. Great workout and vistas.
A great place for imaginations to run wild!
I hiked to the Rock City following the Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) south from the CCC Camp Seneca Picnic area off of Hungry Hollow Rd. It was a steep climb along a creek through the tornado damaged area, but once you join with the FLT it is very well blazed and pleasant hiking. I rated this as demanding because there was about 8" of unbroken snow on the trail and I had to post-hole it the whole way.
