The trail is clearly marked and easy to follow. I spent the weekend with my dogs hiking around the lake and camping nearby. The hike provides gorgeous lake views, ideal hiking scenery, and a quiet escape from the city.
Great moderate trail. 3miles to lake on the red trail, 6 miles round trip.
Love the fact that you can end the trail at a lake and cool off with a swim.
One of the best places in Harriman is Pine Meadow Lake. Many trail options. Have done Pine Meadow trail from where it meets Suffern Bear Mountain to where it meets Kakiak. Have hit it from the North (Suffern Bear Mountain trail), and from Lake Sebago (Tuxedo Mt Ivy trail to Seven Lakes trail South to unnamed Yellow trail West. This route takes you across the top of Diamond Mountain which has great ridgetop hiking and views.
Great hike. Gets a bit crowded on nice weekends.
Very fun trail to venture on, the lake is beautiful and on a hot day is a great way to cool off. I hike about half the trail, once I get to the lake I usually enjoy the view and maybe swim then head back. Would recommend hiking here.
Beautiful, but a with so many trails in the area a bit distracting to have to constantly refer to the map to check which path to choose.
Pine Meadow lake is beautiful. The water is clear clean and perfect for swimming in. I bring a fishing pole every time I go great spot to catch some bass. The trail leading up to the lake is every rocky. It is hard to look around at the scenery while trying not to trip over all the rocks. I spent most of the time looking at the ground hiking up to the lake. That is the only downfall. Wouldn't recommend if raining or icy out.
Beautiful lake with tons of largemouth bass. Be very careful and watch for rattlesnakes. We saw 2 and 1 was 4 feet long. There are rock cliffs to climb and jump into the lake from. Decent hike and there are two ways in. Red trail is easy. White trail a little more difficult.
If you're looking for a gentle creekside hike that leads to a great swim, this is a good entry level trail hike. Pine Meadow Lake has super spots for lunch, for swimming, and for exploring. And there are multiple trails that lead up to and around the lake. Bad knees? Stay on the red trails. Want some boulders, no problem, hike closer to the creek on the other trail options. Lots to explore all around the lake.
Did an overnight last year at campsite on lake, -10 degree wind chill. Fun.
Excelent Hike. Busy trail on the weekends...This trail has several trails coming off of it..The hike is gradual and this Big Rock "Ga nus Qua" is a good place to have lunch. Pine meadow lake is really nice and in the srping has great fishing..
