Letterrock Mtn, Bushwacking We left Silvermine Lake in less then a foot of hard packed snow following the Menomine Trail. It led us around the lake and up to the William Brien Shelter and the crossings of the Appalachian, Ramapo-Dunderberg, and Dean Trails. Tracks were abundant, deer and rabbit. We left the shelter on the Dean Trail following a stream running rabidly with all the melting snow. We caught the Red Cross Trail which led us through a quiet valley between Letterrock & Flaggey Meadow mtns. Along the way, we ran across an interesting set of tracks - bobcat! We rounded Letterrock Mtn, looking for the unmarked Bokey Swamp Trail, but it was still covered with snow and we were unable to find it. So out came the compasses and the map and we bushwhacked over Letterrock mtn. The views from the top were incredible, You could even see the Hudson River to the north! The blue skies were filled with hawks - our only companions on the summit. We bushwhacked along the Bokey Swamp back to the shelter
Actually looks like you did take the lower section (or close by) of Bockey Swamp trail on trip.
Very nice website by the way! I am in the park 3X a week now hiking. If you haven't already get app for your phone with trails. You will never get lost (hopefully) in Harriman State Park
