This trail is a nice stroll with a few uphill parts. There are several spots to see beautiful views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
The views are amazing!
Amazing views, easy hike great in all seasons!
beautiful waterfall you can stand behind
a lovely place
very easy, very mellow, minimal grade - took it begin and end Gertrude's Nose Loop - nice views of Lake Minnewaska.
Easy... But a quaint, peaceful, uplifting hike... Always an enjoyable hike
Very mellow hike and great for all levels. Impeccably maintained trails (almost too done up for me as I like a little ruggedness!) and gorgeous views with multiple swim spots. My only big problem was the sheer popularity of the trail. I'm always seeking a little solitary time on the trail and wasn't fully prepared for how crowded it would be! I recommend going late or early in the day or spring/fall.
Super easy hike around a lovely wooded swimming pond. The trail is a nicely graded and well maintained carriage road. There are lots of little overlooks onto the pond from the trail around it. The pond has a life guard and apparently harmless little leaches.
The main drawback is that it's pretty crowded. The closer of the two parking lots was already filled by the time we arrived at 11 am, so we had to park at the lower lot another mile or so away. Lots of people picnicking and barbequing by the upper parking area.
Very exciting trail. Plenty to see and do! Many trails linking around the main trail (around the lake) each with many beautiful scenic sights! I will definitely be coming back to this trail to conquer the 8 mile trails! Lots of picnics and events going on. Great, fun day!
I walk/run this trail often, most of the time with my dog. It is a carriage road. More of a walk than a hike. Nice views especially during foliage season.
Absolutely amazing the trails were maintained by friendly and knowledgeable employees. We are definitely returning 4 other hiking trails!
