Very peaceful ride. The trail is pretty flat but a little challenging at times. You could be cruising right along on a smooth trail then suddenly find that it changes to course stone or fine gravel or a bit of an obstacle course with the rocks to ride around. It did make the ride more interesting. I rode out about 6 miles from Cato. Will definitely go further next time.

This is a flat, rail bed trail that runs through the Central New York country side (with some small bog and forest environments). It's very well kept (very well marked, with directional signage) and the solitude is nice, but I personally found the trail to be uninteresting as a hike. Next time I'd like to try it with bikes, making a day out of riding up to Fair Haven beach and back.
