This time we decided to combine two trails in the Lincoln National Forest, near the town of Cloudcroft NM, the Willie White Trail (T-113) and Wills Canyon Trail (T-5008). We started our journey through the entrance of the Willie White Trail Spur (T-112) at the Bluff Springs area. These are the directions: When in Cloudcroft, take NM 130 Hwy. At the next intersection take Sunspot Hwy (NM 6563). Around the mile 9 you will see the sign providing directions to Bluff Springs, here you can find the entrance of Willie White Trail Spur to the left just crossing the wood bridge. We Walked on spur trail T-112 and in about half a mile we intersected the Willie White Trail (T-113). We walked for another mile and a half until we reached the intersection of T-113 with Wills Canyon Trail named T-5008. We decided to follow T-5008 to our left. On Wills Canyon Trail you will hike a flat dense forest for most of the way except for the last part of the trail were you gain some altitude. In about 5 miles we reached the second intersection with Willie White Trail. We got confused a bit because this intersection does not match the one shown on the map, for a moment we thought we had lost the trail. We continue walking on T-113 until we reached T-112 and back to Bluff Springs to complete the day. As always that you visit the Sacramento Mountains, you will find an abundant vegetation. Because the summer rain already started at the region, be prepared to see a lot of flowers. As far as fauna is concern, we only encounter small mammals and birds as well as many butterflies. The difficult for this combination of trails is moderate, perhaps a little long but satisfaction is warranted.
