West Rim Trail is a 17.4 mile out and back trail located near Ojo Caliente, New Mexico and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round.
Gorgeous open views.
beautiful, easy , be careful on summer could be really hot
It's a lovely trail if you don't want any elevation to your hike.
Easy & pleasant hike back & forth. Things to consider along this trail: take plenty of water if the hike is to take place on a sunny day - no shade refuge along this trail; finally, leave immediately if the thunderstorm is on its way.
Great views. Flat the whole way. It is not ojo caliente as listed but the trailhead starts at the gorge bridge rest area. After about 1/2 me you will see very few people.
Good flat trail for running. A few slightly technical areas peppered throughout. I did 7 miles in and then 7 back out and never worried about getting off on the wrong trail. Three big horns joined for part of the run.
About as flat as you can get for a trail in NM. Rocky at the start, then just a dirt trail all along the gorge. Great views the entire way.
