Upper Falls Trail is a 2.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Santo Domingo Pueblo, NM that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
Would have been absolutely beautiful if the water was flowing. As it was, it was still a great hike. You can still get down to the lower falls, but that might border on hard because of loose rock, etc. and the trail is marked closed, so it might be illegal!
The best trail at Bandelier. The view at the end of the trail is spectacular.
Upper falls was an easy hike and is 2.25 miles from the visitor center. It was disapointing that the falls were still in the distance and you cannot get too close to them. Still, it's a pretty hike and the falls are lovely. The trail ends at the upper falls. The trail to the lower falls is permanently closed due to flood damage in 2011.
Trail closed after the upper falls overlook. Still easily passable down to the to of the lower falls, but lots of rocks and branches in the path to step over. This'll get you to the base of the upper falls, but the path is pretty washed out beyond the top of the lower falls.
Easy hike, some traffic depending on when you go. The trail ends at the Lower Falls, the fires last year cut off the access to the Rio Grande. The waterfall is spectacular and worth the time!
