Tent Rocks Trail is a 2.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Cochiti Pueblo, New Mexico that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
Tent Rocks Canyon trail is 3 miles out and back hiking trail through a slot canyon with hoodos and striated rock formations. It is a religious site of the Cochiti Pueblo. The Slot has beautiful examples of rock strata, hoodos, the effects of wind and water. It's a nice climb-about 750 ft climb in about 3 miles. Going though tunnels and up ledges. There are railroad ties to make steps to get to the top where you can see for miles. The loop for handicapped small children is nice, with soaring raptures and cliffs. There's almost something for everybody, except rock climbers and rock scramblers. Stay on the trail as it is a sacred site.
This was my favorite hike while visiting the Santa Fe area. Get there early in the morning because the trail was starting to get crowded as we were leaving. Bring a snack or lunch to have at the top and enjoy the gorgeous views. The trail itself is quick to finish....so enjoy the summit!
Great trail but very crowded.
Love this place. We come here several times a year. Super accommodating hike for all levels. Can be an easy hike for children and elderly or sightly more challenging/moderate you go up toward the top. There rock formations are the main draw, but if you get to the top the views are just as rewarding.
this is a great trail. it is busy but still quiet and beautiful. it does have some Skinnier spots and a scramble but not bad
A truly awesome experience! We loved this hike and would recommend it to anyone in better than moderate shape. Bring a camera!
Great hike! easy to start. Can be difficult as you get closer to the top. Plan on minimum 3 hours and for those of us that take pictures plan on 4. It's worth the struggle to get to the top. Don't give up!
This trail was awesome. A few spots were a little challenging but it was so beautiful, it was totally worth it!
Good fun hike. Occasionally crowded
Absolutely beautiful hike. Highly recommended!
Great hike. Great views. Climb is somewhat challenging but entirely worth it!
Just over 3 miles there and back. Beautiful scenery. Slot canyon. $5 per car entrance fee. A must do.
Moderate to hard for this Florida girl:) Beautiful "tent rock" formations. I've never seen anything like it! Also, & a gorgeous view from the top, if you take the slot canyon hike which goes up rather than the cave hike which is easier & more level. Sit there & take it all in....
