Sandia Tramway Nature Loop South Trail is a 0.5 mile loop trail located near Sandia Park, NM that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Easy forest hike above 10k feet. From the trailhead hike north along the paved trail. A few hundred yards along the trail the pavement will turn to dirt. Follow Crest Trail #130. A short distance along the trail a junction will appear. Take the right fork to the Nature Trail. At about 0.15 miles the trail will turn sharply left and descend a stairway. At the bottom overlook turn right and continue on the trail. At the half-way point you will cross Crest Trail #130. Continue ahead on the Nature Trail. This trail will continue south, then turn right and come to a T-junction. Take the trail left at the T to return to the start.
