Ojito / Trail #166 is a 6.8 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Taos, New Mexico. The trail is rated as difficult and primarily used for hiking and road biking.
You can choose to do just 166 [out and back] or loop 166 with 164. 166 is pretty much an uphill hike. There are a few spots where the trail levels off but for the most part you are on a constant incline up. Views at the top are incredible.
Trail is a pretty constant moderate/strenuous uphill hike.
The trail itself is in pretty good condition. There are spots where a few trees have fallen and have yet to be cleared. Climbing over, walking around and crawling underneath will be required.
Views at the top of Taos and surrounding areas are amazing!
I chose just to do 166 so once at the top returned the way I came.
I passed two bikers [or they passed me] but otherwise had the trail to myself.
