Glorieta Baldy Hike is a 9.8 mile out and back trail located near Glorieta, NM that offers scenic views and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and mountain biking and is accessible from May until October.
I tried going today. The gentleman at the gate said the trail is closed until August 15th because of summer camps
Great ride.. :)
I work at the camp. We allow hikers and bikers besides the summer(except certain days). The problem with this trail is the Ghost Town itself is on private property and they have no trespassing signs up. They have decided not to allow people through, not sure why. But you can still hike up to the town and back.
Best follow directions from the Sierra Club's "Day Hikes in the Santa Fe Area" as the trailhead is actually over on FR175 and the Alltrails map is incomplete.
I hiked this as a kid. I remember it was a very difficult hike, but so worth it when I got to the top.
Loved this hike up to Glorieta Baldy. Nice trail from the conference center to the ghost town. Few things to see on the way like the old car and mine.
Nice trail! Make sure you hike starting from Glorieta Conference Center. You will pass some interesting features like an old mine, car and ghost town. The drive to baldy from Pecos is rough. Be careful!
A little tricky to navigate, but views galore and not at all strenuous. Love the rusted out old car, which still had its wooden floor boards and foundation of an old hotel along the trail. Been on this trail over 4 times before it closed due to new owners of the trail head. Havent heard if they allow hikers back.
Great trail but very steep & rocky near top. Views from ridge 1/2 way down spectacular.
