Nice views, abandoned mines, stream From parking follow Highlands trail (blue diamond blazes) across the field. Make left on Townsend Rd and in a few hundred feet turn right into woods, still following blue blazes. Continue uphill to ridgeline where there are several nice viewpoints along the way. Highlands trail then descends to Blue Mine (flooded). From here turn right using the red dot on white blazed trail (do not cross bridge). Follow to junction of the Mine Trail (orange blazes) turn right. Pass Roomy Mine on left. Entry is forbidden Sept 1 - Apr. 30th due to hibernating bats, but otherwise an interesting side exploration (bring flashlight).Mine Trail soon meets a yellow on white blazed trail and they climb together to another nice viewpoint. Stay on orange trail, back to the Highlands Trail. Turn left on Highlands Trail and return to your vehicle
good hike well marked half the loop is blue the return on the loop as shown on map is orange yellow.
This hike was a bit over rated by the star system. Beautiful woods and fun trail to follow. Certainly not hard for an average or beginner hiker. The mine was unaccessible due to water overflow. Overall it was a fun hike however if you are looking for something hard to push your limits this is not the one.
One of my favorite hikes due to the nice mine exploration break.
Started the day out with this hike. Then moved on to another nearby.
One of my favorite places to hike. So beautiful and great exercise. Lots of wildlife during the spring and summer.
Just plain awesome. Lots to see on this hike!
Nice hike with a few flooded out mines. Rocky with some nice vistas. Nice outcrops. Worth the trip.
