Kittatinny Valley Park Trail is a 7.8 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Andover, NJ that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from March until October. Horses are also able to use this trail.
Very nice marked trails for running. Various hilly terrain from steep to gradual but some parts have very rugged tree roots so watch ankles. Trail system takes you along lake Aeroflex and alternate routes take you to the small airport before winding back into woods. Great for high school cross country practice. Ran the 5K trail course used in official 5K Trail Day 5K. Scenic and great to let legs loose on trails. Definitely recommend trail running sneakers and as other reviewers also alerted - horse droppings frequent. Also be aware of trail cyclists. No signs of wildlife any time I've visited.
Great trail system although some parts are rocky and steep for mtb. There are many unmarked side trails that make it a little confusing. Also got a couple of geocaches along the way.
Note: a lot of horse poop on trail
I enjoy it here. There is a cute, intricate trail system and you can keep yourself busy for as long as you want with them. Beautiful scenery but not a rigorous hike on the South side. It's an easy hike but well worth it. A lot of trails are great for trail running. The North side has steeper terrain but only a couple of miles of trail at the most. I saw bear sign but no bear. Solo hikers should always be bear aware and carry pepper spray.
awesome trail awesome park
Great single track The park is clean and trails are well marked.
Used to walk the paved even trail when using a stroller, and now run the blue trail primarily used for mountain biking for a better workout. Area is beautiful. I do agree some of the trails are quite narrow so bikers and hikers need to keep their heads up, but love this park. A LOT of wild raspberries in the spring, great for kids exploring.
Very pretty.... The trail is narrow at some points so bikers need to watch for walkers but the area around the lake is gorgeous. I was told they are going to expand the trails to go around the lake in the next year.
I have done this trail a number of times while hiking, cross country skiing, snow shows and geocaching. It serves as a good warm up to check my gear out each season. The area north of the ranger station is a bit harder and less traveled.
Solid trail. I go because it's close/convenient.
Easy trail. I usually park here then bike towards kittatinny st park. Nice flat trail with slate rocks. Interesting historical place
Great flat trail for easy biking, walking & running. Sussex Branch Trail intersects with some trails at Kitatinny Valley State Park which are moderate to difficult trails.
