Twinway and Twin Brook Trail is a 17.1 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Bethlehem, New Hampshire that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from March until October.
We started from the Galehead Hut to the summit of South Twin; the 8/10 section to the summit was difficult, but we had a great view once we reached the summit. We proceeded toward Mount Guyot and the trail was either slightly downhill or flat and easy. We were headed toward the Zealand Falls Hut and although there were some moderate downhills, the trail to Zealand Mountain was flat and easy. Enjoyed this section very much !
Hiked Twinway (which is also the AT) from the Zealand Hut to Mount Zealand -- which is not marked on AllTrails. The weather was cloudy and had light, intermittent rain, but better than preceding days with temps in the 90s with high humidity. Unfortunately the cloud cover resulted in very poor visibility at Zeacliff and other possible viewing spots.
The hike up to Zealand was strenuous in places and took about 4 hours round trip from/to the Zealand Hut.
The peak of Zealand is a relatively small clearing and offers no view but it's a 4,000 footer in the books.
I only did the smallest section of this trail - from Galehead Hut to the turnoff onto Bondcliff. The South Twin summit is a challenging assent, with gratifying views even (especially) on a threatening day. See posted photo. :)
