Rattlesnake Trail is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Center Sandwich, NH that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
The trail starts out with an incline and there are a number of stairs to reach the top of the trail, the view is breathtaking, it's a panoramic view of Squam Lake, where On Golden Pond was filmed. Well worth the hike. The trail ends with a slight turn to the left, ending in a large rock ledge.
Great first hike after ankle and leg rehab!! Love the view.
easy trail. beautiful view
Easy trail- spectacular view
Family tradition! Great views of Squam, easy for kids, nice little adventure.
Great payoff for an easy quick hike! Highly recommend!
Easy hike up steps most of the way and a few straight spots. Only gets steep for a very short time right at the top. Great for families just keep kids away from the ledges once on top :) bathrooms at bottom of trail and plenty of parking. Really nice beautiful hike the views are worth the trip for sure. Hope you enjoy!!
Easy trail. Spectacular view
Very easy trail, kid approved. The views are second to none. Went mid-week and there were only a handful of cars in the parking lot.
Fairly easy hike with amazing view!
Great day hike for family. Quick and great views in such a short time....
This is a family favorite - easy trail for kids of all ages with great views at the top and shade to eat a snack or lunch. Tends to be very busy, so head elsewhere if you're looking for a quiet hike alone in the woods :)
Very nice hike not to easy not to hard beautiful views of Squam lake . Hiked it with 4 and 7 year old plus 5 month old puppy all had fun .
Great hike- with beautiful views! Short day hike, and fairly easy, with a steady incline.
This is an easy hike with awesome views!
Despite the somewhat-strenuous incline, this immaculately maintained trail is a pretty average hike for the first 20-30 minutes. But when you crest that final clearing near the summit of the titular mountain - the incredibly gorgeous views of Squam Lake make the entire trip worth it - and then some!
Go early (before 9am) to avoid most of the large crowds - having the exposed rock-bluffs all to yourself is totally worth it. Loved this hike!
Easy and beautiful. Only con is that it can be crowded
Beautiful hike. Easy enough to do with the kids. Amazing views at the top. We will definitely do it again.
