Great trail. Plan for 8 miles and plenty of h2o.
Hard. Not moderate compared to other moderate rated trails. I would recommend no kids under 10
Great hike! The liberty up and the brook down.
Went up Brook and down LIberty. Good choice. Brook is rugged and less well maintained but worth it because you follow a beautiful mountain stream most of the way with lovely pools and waterfalls. Yellow blazes are fading so you need to pay attention. Very good "middle earth" feel to the hike. Great views from the top despite clouds. LIbery is a lovely descent, better maintained and easier. Took us about 5 hours and it is definitely over 8 miles, not the 6.2 that AllTrails claims. Great hike. Really worth it if you are in descent sharpe.
Took Liberty up to the summit and came down Brook. Great hike. Brook was a tough descent because of the wet rocks. It was the day after rain, made for some really slick spots. Mostly coming down Brook and once going up Liberty after the cabin.
I think the cabin is haunted. Our dog refused to go inside and cried the whole time I was inside.
The fog and mist made for an interesting summit.
Can't wait to try some of the other trails up Chocurua.
8.5 from the Liberty trailhead at the Pagaus Road parking to the summit and back to the parking lot via Brook Trail to an old road. Did it in around 4-4.5 hours.
Great views! Great hike despite the snow and ice cover!
It was not easy that's for sure! Took 2 other people with me because it said easy NOT! It was a nice hike though.
Climbed the Brook Trail and returned via Liberty Trail. Unusual for this mountain did not see anyone on either trail and had the summit to myself for about a half hour. Moderate trails, fairly easy climb and descent through some very nice scenery and good view from the Brook Trail before the summit and great views from the summit.
The Liberty Trail is not difficult, pretty and a pleasant way to reach the beautiful summit of Mt Chocorua. The Brook Trail, however, is not well-maintained and while not a strenuous hike is difficult to follow. Beware.
Took the Liberty Trail down after reaching the summit via the Brook Trail. Great loop. The Liberty Trail is an easy descent once off the summit. Good way to stretch the legs out before heading home.
Two friends and I hiked it Easter morning 2011 and even without snowshoes that would have been nice towards the top it was an awesome spring hike! Then on the drive back to Lincoln we say a moose on the side of the road, Such an epic trip!
Very nice hike. Nothing too steep and the views from the summit are spectacular. A hike for the whole family.
