This quick loop is very flat and offers an easy excursion through classic pitch pine barrens. Many of the pitch pine stands along the trail have been recently managed with controlled burns. Look for char marks on the tree, which are a sign of the past fires. This Preserve is managed by The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire, and is an excellent place for walking, fishing, observing wildlife, and snowmobiling. Camping, fires or wheeled vehicles are not permitted on the preserve, and all dogs must be on a leash. For a trail map and more information, visit: www.nature.org/newhampshire/ossipeepinebarrens.
