Champney Brook Trail to Mount Chocorua is a 6.8 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Conway, NH that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Long cascading waterfall with many small pools - best in spring, early summer Easy trail ascend through hardwoods and along brook. You will have some small steep sections but overall this trail is easy - an excellent hike with kids and dogs. I even saw many older people on the trail. The waterfall is very beautiful but is best seen in the spring and early summer when the water is running best. It tends to dry up in the late summer and fall. This might be a good winter hike.
What a great trail. Plenty of parking at the Trailhead, well marked, well maintained trail. Conditions were great on 12/4, light snow and ice, no issues at all with microspikes. Amazing views on the exposed summit, can be hard to find blazes above treeline this time of year with light snow cover, but it was easy enough to find our way.
Fairly strong winds and much cooler (as you would expect) above treeline. Took about 3:40 with 20 min at summit.
This trail to the summit is 3.8 one way to total 7.6 miles. I am a slow hiker and this took me about 5 hours including a half hour at the summit. Was expecting it to be easier but it was a pretty steady incline after the first mile. Would probably have been faster/easier without the wet slippery leaves covering he trail! Beautiful summit, worth the effort. NOT well marked trail at all. Went off the trail several times. Virtually no blazes on the summit. The falls were basically dry.
Awesome hike. Easy to the falls, which were neat even with little water flow. The hike is tougher after the falls, but really just like climbing stairs. Once, past the treeline, there is quite a bit of rock scrambling. The views are spectactular!
Amazing hike...low water table at the falls....however with the low water we were able to get in and see the absolutely beautiful stone structure that would not have been able to see if there had been high river water....simple beautiful...the trail was great ...easier than the Piper Trail to the summit..I would definitely hike this trail again. The summit was great . View 360 and just perfect...if you hike bring warm shirt for the peak...
Great hike! The waterfall is tiny in late summer, but it was still nice. Scrambling up the last section was fun and the views at the top was amazing!
very windy at the summit.
Beautiful view at the top. Last 20 minutes I would say is moderately difficult but worth it!! Ran into thunderstorms on way down few areas to find cover from lighting.
Great hike! A little slippery the days before rained pretty hard.. Was a nice view above tree line!
I took my son on this hike yesterday and we had a blast! It was extremely windy on the summit more then normal so he got a little afraid but I would do this hike again for sure. :) trail was pretty easy and got a little more challenging at the top.
Hiked with my
Great hike! The last .4 is rock climbing but the rest of the trail was pretty easy. Beautiful 360 degree views. The only down side was that there were a million people on the mountain today.
Great for hikers easing their way into a new season with more strenuous hikes ahead. Gorgeous views! 7 hour outing time. Reasonable ascent and descent. Good workout but not overly taxing, with some tricky rock scrambles at the summit. I would definitely do this hike again!
The trek is worth it!! Amazing 360 degree views once at summit!
Challenging hike but well worth the view, it's strange to be in alpine only at 3400 feet, the water falls are awesome!
Beautiful well maintained trail. Short easy hike up to the falls. A bit slippery in spots this time of year.
