Little Sugarloaf is a 0.6 mile lightly trafficked point-to-point trail located near Bristol, NH and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Such a perfect day for a hike. Trail was dry and well maintain. Very few hikers along the way. The payoff at the top of Little Sugarloaf was well worth the effort.
Did the 2 mile loop. easy enough for my 4 year old.
Rewarding Easy Hike. Little sugarloaf is a great beginners hike. Relatively short hike for an awesome view, great if you want to introduce a friend to hiking. There are some rocky spots but nothing too difficult, just watch your step, specially if wet. It can be muddy at the beginning of the trail, but it is avoidable. Make it a loop and go down by the Goose Pond.
Big Sugarloaf is more moderate than easy. If you have time and energy, go for it. Personally, I prefer the views from Little Sugarloaf. Although, if you go off the trail a bit, you can get some awesome views near the summit of Big Sugarloaf. Don't get lost! ;)
Sugarloaf and Little Sugarloaf are easy to get to, right off Newfound lake. A quick 1.8 mile hike that isn't really steep and is typically quiet and serene, with the pleasant view tucked away at the top make it my go to for an hour to burn away from people.
When snowshoeing in the winter, watch out for snowmobiles around goose pond. It's still a rewarding hike, but it becomes a 3 hour ordeal when breaking trail, so be prepared and bring some friends to help pack down that powder.
Nice foliage hike... Few people and nice views.
Awesome for trail running.
Sugarloaf is a great hike to do in a small group before visiting Newfound Lake (one of the cleanest in the country). The hike is a decent workout if done with some gusto or even jogging. The views are a little underwhelming but offer the serene vibe that many hikers look for in the morning. Happy Trails!
Hiked to Little Sugarloaf, and Big Sugarloaf (not to be confused with the Sugarloafs further north). The Trailhead is located across from the entrance to Wellington State Park. To me it was a nice easy hike, I only planned on hiking little Sugarloaf, but the weather was nice, and the hike was easy, decided to do Big Sugarloaf as well.
There are great views of Newfound Lake from the summit of both Sugarloafs.
