Appalachian Trail: Velvet Rocks is a 3.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Hanover, New Hampshire that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October.
I enjoy the boulders and rocks on this section of the trail as a contrast to the nearby VT trails that I usually hike. I have only hiked it in dry summer/fall weather though, being warned that the rocks get very slippery in rain. Not sure how it will be with ice and snow, but am looking forward to finding out..with cleats of course!
very pretty trail, but not well marked for the connecting trails.

I finished the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire and the southwestern sections are a treat. Not heavy traffic and periodic good views. My favorite time for these sections is during fall foliage, late September
