Big horn sheep area, canyon views, wooded climbs, well marked trail. This loop trail at Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas, Nevada is a study in contrast. You are always in the Mojave Desert, but it looks markedly different depending on your elevation and the amount of precipitation the area gets. With the White Rock Loop, you see typical desert plants. On the west side of the mountain, hidden from the Scenic Drive, is a hidden forest of juniper and pinyon. It's a great contrast to the barren east side.

scenic driving

Drove through this loop a couple months ago. Went there to hike 3 to 5 trails. The views along this entire loop was like hiking a trail, awesome.

My buddy and I started on the north trail and went all around it. It wasn't that bad, but the hot weather was not on our side. We found this awesome rock and we decided to have lunch there. The winds are very refreshing, but once you pass the "La Madre" trail it gets very hot.

Definitely a pet friendly and bike trail.

This is an easy trail and has a picnic area where you can enjoy your lunch. The Willow Springs area is also great starting point for several other trails including Lost Creek and the Willow Springs - White Rock trails.

A short, easy hike right next to a picnic spot. Perfect for kids. This hike features a lot of vegetation, animal wildlife, a creek as well as a seasonal waterfall (aka lost creek trail). In addition this trail features many windows into ancient native american cultures in the form of petroglyphs, agave roasting pits and even ancient native american beds carved right into a giant bolder. Its a very spiritual hike, but also comes with a lot of foot traffic. Well worth it, though. You can find this trail, along with the lost creek trail, petroglyph wall trail, white rock trail and willow springs picnic area by turning off the main red rock loop road onto the road leading to the willow springs picnic area. These trails are dog friendly. RUFF RUFF! And feature some good surfaces for rock climbing.
