Great little trail, named for primary trail builders of local BLM, USFS lands We are so grateful to the Spring Mountain Youth Camp for their work building and maintaining trails in the Spring Mountains. Almost every trail in Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, Kyle, and Lee Canyons can be enjoyed thanks to these hard-working young people. If you're very lucky, you'll come across these work crews and you can tell them thank you in person. This trail is named for SMYC and it is a great way to honor Clark county's rehabilitation program for troubled children. You won't need any help following this trail - it is lined with rocks as it crosses the wash, and cut through deep red soil along the slopes, even having stone steps to assist in loose footing and steep climbs. I absolutely love how you wind up and down the gentle hills before Icebox Canyon, each turn giving you a different perspective of Sandstone Quarry, La Madre, and Turtlehead Peak. If you're lucky enough to hike this trail after or during the rain, you're in for a real treat!
Early spring is a great time as there is lots of water at the falls on the top
Hiked this trail yesterday...It was a nice hike...Kind of got off trail on to another trail and ended up walking around a small hill and back up the wash to where we parked the car...
