Great views of Lake Tahoe
Van Sickle Bi-State Park straddles the California/Nevada Border directly behind, and within easy walking distance of Heavenly Village in South Lake Tahoe. There are three trail options: Rim Connector Trail, Cal-Neva Loop Trail, and Barn Trail. My wife and I hiked a portion of the Rim Connector Trail in early May to a small waterfall - total distance out and back was 2.2 miles and an elevation gain of about 700 ft. Views of the lake were very nice, and the trail continues all the way to the Tahoe Rim Trail if desired.
