Tough trip from Davis Creek with a full pack, but Rock Lake is nearly full and there is another lake that is not on the map that is full, as well. Didn't go all the way to Tahoe Meadows, as the snow is still pretty high up there. Stayed over night at Rock lake. Beautiful views and no other hikers at all.

Very nice Sierra, Sequoia day hike. Impassable about 1/4 mile past Rock Lake fork due to snowpack. Rock Lake fork also blocked. Had to barefoot across the creek due to high melt. Very nice hike.

This app sent me on a bit of a goose chase trying to get to the start of this hike. Eventually found the trail head in Davis Creek Regional Park (which is right off the 580 or ALT395). Free parking and well marked trail head. Great hike... a real calf burner on the way up. River access is a little over 2 miles in

Also when you forge the creek at 1.6. miles in, one of the gorgeous views on this entire hike!

There are many options for hiking this trail, most are fairly easy, but the two mile descent from the Lower Meadow Loop to Upper Price Lake involves a 1,250 foot elevation drop with an equal gain coming back up. Upper Price Lake is a very small shallow lake, most of it about 2 feet deep. The fish that I did see jumping above the surface were 2 to 3 inches long. The amazing aspect of this hike is the variety of wild flowers. Crimison Columbine, Corn Lillies, Queen Ann's Lace, Lupine, Pussy Paws, Gilia, Mules Ears, Alpine Paintbrush, Shinning Daisy and many more line the trail. Bring a camera and a book on local flora and this hike can take hours. From Highway 431 to Upper Price Lake is 7.2 miles, out and back. The topography changes radically along the way from forest, to dense overgrowth, to dry chapparal and back again. The topo map for this area shows a Lower Price Lake, but the lake was lost in a landslide years ago. It is simply not there. This is my dog's favorite hike, since Ophir Creek is a bubbling stream that parallels the first mile of the hike and he loves to splash in the grass lined pools of the creek.

Very hot in summer. VERY steep to start. Good workout - trail follows creek drainage up to rock lake. No water until you ford the creek at 1.6 miles from the trailhead.
