Easy to follow, wide trail takes you on nice loop to & from Oak Creek With this route, you'll spend more time exposed on the lower slopes; which means it'll be HOT in the summer daytime. This route is also used by the wranglers giving horse back rides from Spring Mountain State Park and Bonnie Springs, so you'll have plenty of company on this trail. It is such a wide, graded trail it would take a lot of effort to get lost! Once you walk up the rich red soil and drop down behind the hill, you'll be in the area we call the "haunted canyon". This is a wonderful spot, full of beauty and solitude (except on weekends), and the best part is you still have the creek ahead of you. There are many shady trees and great boulders for picnic spots, just be sure to haul your trash out with you. I've found many trail runners use this route the past few years -- beware so you, your dog, or horse isn't spooked by someone silently running up behind you. If you prefer, you can always head L (W) up into the upper canyon instead of R(E) after the hill.

Ok trail, not the best not the worst, no need to do it more than once.

I took my daughter to this hike and she was not impressed, there are a lot of rocks on the trail, this makes it less enjoyable.
