Oak Creek Horse Trail is a 5.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Las Vegas, Nevada that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, birding, and horses and is accessible year-round. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.
Easy, well worn LOOP trail, used extensively by horses, hikers, joggers. If you've lived in Las Vegas a while, you may remember when we could drive all the way to Oak Creek, camp, and still have solitude. Those days are long gone but fortunately, you can still enjoy Oak Creek by hoof or by foot. Most hiking guides will lead you to Oak Creek via the scenic loop road/pkg. area. This is fine if you prefer a shorter hike that drops you right to the creek. This description is the route that horses take and leads you through the lower canyon & creek. The trail is normally hot & dusty June - Aug so begin early & watch for snakes. I've written this up as a loop trail by crossing at the lower canyon, joining another good trail & riding around the small hill, back down into the canyon. You will surely enjoy the brilliant red soil & cliffs in the "hidden" canyon (great picnic/rest area). Horses have the right of way but many don't respect it so beware.
Hiked this trail 1/21/17, mountains were still covered with snow and some of it was melting which meant the creek had water and the melting snow created a waterwall! The colors were just amazing!
It makes me crazy that you ask for a review yet don't offer Horse Back Riding or Equestrian as the activity!!!
