Was disappointed at the beginning as the start of the trail was paved. Gradually got better and rougher. Good views from the high point.
great hike, good elevation change. 112° heat made it challenging.
Awesomeness. View of the city from the top. Wowzers. Bring your trail running shoes. Some parts rocky ;) great workout.
lots of people, really easy hike.

Chill. Good for short hikes.
A nice easy paved trail at the beginning and turns into a moderate trail with rocks and hills. Went there with my two dogs today and was pleased! Hoping to go further next time - we did 2.7 miles
It was kind of difficult figuring out how the trail starts, the map says where to park, but then you are starting at mile marker 7? It was a bit strenuous, but fun. If it were more clearly marked, I would have given more stars.
Done this trail 3x and still enjoy it. Not only is everybody friendly passing by but the rewarding view at the top of black mountain is beyond worth the long dry and shadeless trail. It's about a 3000 ft change in elevation so bring lots of water and maybe a snack for the top. Dot forget to leave a little message in the lockbox too!
This trail has many options for trail running. It changes from flat to uphill. No shade. Bring plenty water. Great view of the valley.
This trail was 14 miles out and back. Starts with steep incline and rotates to switchbacks w loose rock. Scenery is dull except viewing yards of nice homes. This area is very hot with absolutely no shade. 9/5/12 went on a rainy day and it was still very hot. Great for fitness but view gets boring.
