My wife and I hiked this beautiful trail in early August. It's a good hike with lots of variation as you climb the elevation. We were still getting used to the elevation so this 1.8 mile each way out and back was perfect.

The plants and trees and flowers were gorgeous.

Nice hike. The best part was that I got to see a moose! She was right off the trail about 20 yards.

Nice short hike. Was a little disappointed the trail ended at a road but it's a great short hike.

Beautiful hike through the forest on a nice trail. There is an elevation climb on this trail but it is gradual throughout the hike. We did have a black bear encounter but it ran off as soon as it saw us. Make sure to bring along some bear spray and make plenty of noise.

Very nice. Gradual climb, gradual descent. So, so many varieties of flowers in bloom! A-1 family trail.

Great trail with some awesome views of Red Lodge and ranches. Fairly steep both ways with a old kiln on the Palisades side. Great flowers on Fox Road side.

I took this route from the willow creek down to palisades camp ground and continued heading north to where we were picked up. There was some mild foot traffic along willow creek, which could present a problem as you can easily get caught up with feeding your internal speed demon as you fly down the trail (beware the occasional rock croppings, get going too fast and you'll feel like your operating a jack hammer). The initial part of palisades (heading north) is laden with uphill battle after uphill battle (most of it is doable, but for sure grueling), but it eventually levels out and when you can finally start the decent you'll be appreciative of the hard work it took to get that point as you can get cruising pretty fast. I really enjoyed this trail because of the downhill aspect of it, hence the 5 stars.

Beautiful trail. We mountain biked from Red Lodge Mountain to Palisades campground. Very fast singletrack with a few rocks. Bring extra tubes, i found out the hard way.
