North Fork Howard Creek is a 4.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lolo, Montana that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from May until November.
Trail follows the creek through a narrow drainage. Trail passes through forest, riparian growth, and burned out areas from a previous fire. From the trailhead follow the narrow gravel road for about 1/2 mile and it will turn into a single track footpath. Continue on for about 2 miles. Towards the end there is a creek to cross but unless the water is up you can get across without getting your feet wet. Follow the path up the hill. This section is steep and the path is heavily eroded. At the top you can continue on to Wagon Mountain Road or turn around and head back to the trailhead.
