Nelson Lake is a 5.4 mile out and back trail located near Darby, MT and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from July until September.
Hiked this one July 4th 2012. No trialhead sign. Ample parking. Trails were difficult to find @ times. Lots of "Y"'s. With some luck we did locate the lake. The lake is tree lined with no real beach type area.
We hiked to Nelson Lake on July 4th and it was hard to find the trailhead and the trail. But with some good luck we did find the lake. I think the trail itself has not been used much resulting in hard to locate trail sections. Some carins provide a little guidance through the rocky ledges. Take a lot of water on this hike.
